Amazon's Year End Video Game Sale

First, I would just like to say "Merry Christmas!" and that 2010 is almost coming to an end. Amazon is currently having their year end video game sales. Some notable games include:

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (PS3 / Xbox) $20
3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3) $15
Naruto Shippuuden Ultimate Ninja Strom 2 (PS3) $26
Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom (Xbox360) $17
Demon's Souls (with Soundtrack) (PS3) $17
Splatterhouse (PS3/Xbox360) $26
Bioshock 2 (Xbox360) $15
Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 Collector's Edition (PS3/Xbox) $40
Castlevania Lords of Shadow Limited Edition (PS3) $40

Some of these games have almost the same Amazon sellback value (i.e. Naruto sellback is $25.75), so once your done playing it or no longer want it, you can just sell it back to Amazon.

Also, Call of Duty Black Ops (PS3/Xbox360) is selling for only $40 today only. Although, I have heard many mixed reviews on this game, some saying it's nothing new and rather upsetting, while others believing it to be a worthy addition to the series. You be the judge.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Collector's Edition Picture

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is just one of the many games I have on my wish-list. You can currently pre-order it on Amazon for $59.99 and receive $10 game credit. If you are a true fan of the series, then you might be more interested in purchasing the collector's edition. It comes in an appealing case and box, a special issue and art book, free DLC, and 1 month of Marvel Digital Comics.

Leaked PSP2 Dev Unit Pictures

So, two new pics have been released on the web showing what appears to be a developmental unit of the PSP2. I personally dislike the design and hope that the final unit does not look like that. The sliding feature makes it resemble closely to Sony Mylo, but according to a source, a new dev unit is being made and will not include the sliding mechanism. In the picture, we can see two front-facing analog sticks, a microphone, front and back camera, and a rear touch pad.

EA Store 30% Off Coupon Code

Well, it might actually be too late, but the EA Store website is having a sale of selected game titles and a 30% coupon code is available for use. With the code "EAPARTNERS2010 " you can try and see if there are any games worth getting. Earlier today, they had Madden 11 (PS3) for $30,  but applying the code made the final cost to only $21 shipped. The code was also applicable on certain PC games as well, such as Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (digital download) making it only $14. Someone had mentioned that stacking coupon codes worked as well. I tried the code they used "pnynj9bwq" but couldn't get it to work. Oh, don't forget cash-back!

Walmart PlayStation 3 320GB Move Bundle $399

I already bought my PS3, but just wanted to post this up because I think it's a pretty good deal. Walmart is selling the PS3 320GB + Move Bundle + $50 Walmart eGift card for $399. I actually would bite if I didn't already have one. I also have been seeing quite a lot of sales on Vizio HDTV's lately. Again, I already have a Vizio 22" in my bedroom, but just saying if you don't own one already you might want to check it out. Costco is currently selling a Vizio 32" 720p LCD HDTV for only $289.99. I remember Target was selling a Vizio 26" for around $180 a couple days ago, might still be there.

Testing PS3 Backwards Compatibility

So, I decided to see how many of my PS2 games actually worked on my PS3 80GB MotorStorm Edition Console. Obviously, I did not go through my whole PS2 library as I am simply too lazy to do so. The games that did not work or had problems with so far include:

DJ Hero (Game does not load. Turntable controller seems to work though. Able to navigate through XMB menu)
Guitar Hero 1-3 and World Tour (All load normally, some parts appear laggy/glitchy. The strum on the guitar controller does not work, so I am unable to to move up and down in the menu, however this could just be due to my adapter plug)
Dance Dance Revolution (Games load normally. Dancemat is not responsive, only top and bottom arrows respond, while both left and right do not work, but this problem could also be due to my adapter plug)

I stopped after this. All my other PS2 games such as my Final Fantasy titles and Resident Evil titles worked fine. Surprisingly, my EyeToy camera and the games for it worked as well. Overall, I guess I am satisfied with the partial backwards compatibility. I'll slowly update this list over time.

PSP2? Playstation Phone? WTF!

So there has been a lot of talk over the web lately about the upcoming release of the PSP2 with codename "Veta" and the Sony Ericsson Playstation Phone. The design of the PSP2 is still TBD and could either go looking like the PSP Go or standard PSP. One things for sure is that it will definitely go UMD-less like the PSP Go. I own a PSP-1001 and love it so much simply because of CFW and the ability to use homebrew apps. I personally was not attracted to the PSP Go when it came out, nor the whole idea of it. The only thing I liked about it was the sleek design, other than that, I didn't care much for it. One source states that the PSP2 "will be a much more powerful gaming device than its predecessor with “twice the RAM of the Xbox 360″. The PSP2 will have 1 GB of RAM – to put that in perspective, the PSP Go and PSP 3000 have 64 MB of RAM, and the Xbox 360 has 512 MB of RAM." I find that too good to be true, and by being too good, I predict the release price to be way overpriced and possible hardware failure/problems due to Sony trying to up the ante in the competitive market for portable gaming.
Now as for the PSP Phone, it appears its going to be official as the prototype is already in the making and actual release of the pics are available here (PSP Phone Prototype Pics). It looks very similar to the Sony Mylo, the portable internet device, except without the qwerty keyboard. "The rumored Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone includes a slide-out gaming pad that features standard PSP controls with a few twists. The most notable is what looks to be a long touch control pad. It is expected to include a version of the Google Android operating system and have access to a special marketplace where you can download games. There's a microSD card slot, but no UMD or Memory Stick support. Screen size is around 4 inches."

My PS3 Arrived Today!

As the title says, my PS3 was sitting on my front porch this morning. I never realized how heavy the console was until today. Everything was there, just like new and works accordingly. On eBay, I had also purchased dualshock controllers (white and black) even though I knew they were most likely counterfeit. Well, I tried them out and they worked just fine. The only issue I have with the controllers is that the start/select buttons are hard to push. I also found it to be a fail when I saw that both controllers were packaged inside their box saying the color was deep red. Other than that, for $18, I am satisfied. I just despise the fact that Sony dualshock controllers are $45. Anyways, here's the pics of the PS3 and etc:

Update On Ebay Scam

Finally, after having opened a case with PayPal, I received an email back saying "We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your favor." The $190.50 was returned to my account and although it took 4-5 weeks to settle, I am just relieved I got my money back. This experience has taught me to be a more safe and conscious online shopper. Well, even though this whole fiasco occurred, I still chose to go ahead and purchase another PS3 on eBay. This time it was from a legitimate seller (based on his positive feedback) and offered a tracking #. Unfortunately, instead of $190, I paid $220. On the other hand, I earned $4 in eBay bucks and $6 using Mr. Rebates! Plus, it came bundled with two controllers (no dualshock *sad face*), Motorstorm game, and an ethernet cable. According to the tracking info, my package arrived at my post office this morning, so I'm expecting it either tomorrow or saturday. I'll post up the pic of it once I have my hands on it. Oh that also reminds me! I received my $25 amazon giftcard from Viewpoints as well. I am in a very happy mood indeed.

Frustration Is The Only Emotion I Feel Right Now

You might be asking why I posted a blog with such a title. No, it's not because I have midterms coming up or relationship problems, but actually has to do with a dear friend named eBay. Just a heads up, this story of mines is quite long. So I have been arguing and complaining to eBay customer support for the past 4-5 weeks now about my case. The case I speak of occurred on Sept. 11, which I had won an auction for a PS3 80gb system for $190. I was ecstatic and overwhelmed by joy that I had now owned a PS3. So I immediately payed the amount via Paypal. About an hour later I receive a email back from the seller saying that he is having issues with his Paypal, so he refunded me and asked me to send the money to his other Paypal account. I was a little suspicious at first, but the seller sounded sincere in the email, so I did as he said. The seller said he had shipped the package via USPS Parcel Post, so it should not take longer than two weeks. Two weeks go by and I still have not received my package. Being worried, I emailed the seller multiple times of my concerns. The seller never responded to any of messages. It was only after this I decided to open a case on eBay about not receiving my item. Unfortunately, after the seller gave my refund, eBay did not allow me to open a case due to the fact that the auction did not record as completed/paid for. I was now forced to use the eBay Live Chat support. After waiting over an hour, I finally got to speak to eBay support. The person I spoke to was courteous, but did not help at all and directed me to send a email stating my problem to resolve@ebay.com. Annoyed, I sent the email and finally received a reply after 5 days. The replied email talked about how I could pay for my eBay fees and invoices. I'm talking about how to get my money back, and instead of addressing the problem, they reply saying how I can pay them the fees. I was confused and angry by the response and replied back saying the information given to me was of no use, nor did it pertain to the issue at hand. I clearly stated my problem was not receiving an item and exactly what happened in the whole process. Ebay replied back again, this time in 3 days, and yet again they resent me the same information. All I have to say is screw eBay customer support and that eBay buyer protection. I'm sure they have helped many others, but in my case, they did not. I'm very pessimistic about this whole thing and don't think I'm going to get my money back. Dropping eBay completely for help, I opened a case on Paypal and informed them of my problem. The case is now being investigated, so I'll see how that goes. I guess I was ignorant for believing that there are still honest people out there selling.

My Business Card

As the title says, I got myself a business card. Well not really for business, just for fun. I got 10 of these from Moo.com sample business cards. I made the picture using Paint. On the back of the card has my basic info. Unfortunately, the cards come with the companies' watermark unless you actually purchase them, which I will never buy. You have to make an account first though. Anyways, just wanted to share.

Trailer For Pokémon Apokélypse: Live Action

While browsing Youtube videos, I stumbled upon a very interesting trailer. As the title says, it's a trailer for a Pokemon live action movie. Unfortunately, having read the article given in the description, I realized it was merely a fan-made trailer. I was utterly surprised by the amount of effort and time put into that trailer, and would not have been shocked it was actually going to be released. Skimming through the comments, I found a lot of mixed reactions with some people despising the idea and others plain loving it. I personally liked how they gave it a dark/adult theme to the story, however, the character cast (specifically the guy who plays Ash Ketchum) did not roll with me. Anyways, you be the judge and watch it.

*DEAD* Free Starcraft 2 Guest Pass Code

So I realized after I purchased Starcraft 2, the box and everything inside of it was of no use to me. I still have an unused SC2 guest pass, as well as a WOW guest pass. I could easily pawn these off on Ebay for $1, but then I got an idea. How can I find out if anyone is even viewing/reading my blog.. I know! I'll give the codes out to whom ever responds to this post. So if your someone who has actually been reading my blog or just happen to stumble upon this page, then post a comment with your email and the codes are yours. You can also follow me as well, however, that is not required. Just saying.

Starcraft 2 for $49.99 @ Amazon

Hey guys, if you missed out on the last deal Kmart had a couple weeks ago, Amazon is now selling the game for $49.99 FS w/ Amazon Prime (Link). Not that great of a deal, but if you can't hold in your urge of waiting any longer, than this might be the deal for you. Otherwise, I suggest you just wait because I have a feeling it will be at $40-45 pretty soon.

Finished Modding My Nerf Maverick

Ever since that last Nerf war, I've been hooked on Nerf Guns and modifying. The thing you should know about me is that I can be very competitive and so of course I would want to try to make my gun better than others. I pretty much spent most of my weekend watching Youtube videos on how to do such modifications. I removed the air restrictors, full barrel mod, eliminated dead space, and stretched the spring. It may sound a lot, but it's actually quick and easy. Here's a good read-me tutorial: http://humansvszombies.org/archives/550, however, I personally find it easier to visually see how its done in Youtube videos. The average distance of a stock Maverick was between 25-28. My newly modded Maverick ranges between 30-35, which in my opinion is pretty good. After I had finished the modding, I took a look at my Maverick and noticed there was still a problem. The colors. Blue and yellow was just not working for me, so I decided to drop by Michael's Arts and Crafts to purchase glossy black and chrome silver spray paint. Now that's what I call a sexy gun.

In the end, I spent nothing for the nerf gun, $6 for the spray paints, $8 for the tactical rail light w/ 10 darts, and a few hours putting it all together. Total = $14 + tax, so $15. Worth it? Eh.. yes in that it gave me something to do and I had fun, but money-wise, not so much.

Free Steam Game *Red Orchestra 41-45*

Hey, I'm just at home chilling.. well actually I'm kind of sweating in this heat, but while browsing the web I found a sweet freebie. Its super simple too, no filling out all that long info crap and such.. All you need to do is "like" the Logitech Gaming facebook page and click claim code. From there, you just simply fill out your name, birthday, and email. After that you will receive the activation code, which you activate on your steam account. Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/logitechg...4396475227. If you don't know how to activate games on steam, simply open up steam, click the "Games" tab and click "Activate a Product on Steam."Once you have entered your code, your steam account will now have the game permanently. I have only played the demo of this game, and it was pretty fun IMO. Well, that's all I have to say.

Back To School A.K.A. College

So I have successfully integrated myself into the college atmosphere. I am currently living with three other guys. White. Persian. Asian. The white male apparently was a high school football player, which would explain why he is such a mess around the apartment. Luckily, I do not share the same room with him, the other Asian does. Seriously though, this guy leaves all his clothes and junk laying around the floors, in particular, his room. As for myself, I share a room with the Persian. Surprisingly, he keeps his stuff in decent order. Unlike the other room, people can actually walk through our room without stepping on something. Oh, the other Asian is pretty much like me, keeping things neat and tidy. The White and Persian purchased a school meal plan, even though there's a kitchen in our apartment. The past week, my food menu consisted of rice with chinese sausage and scrambled eggs, spaghetti with meatballs, ramen with beef, ravioli with mushrooms, sandwiches, and salads. Not bad for someone who isn't experienced in cooking huh?
What I like about this year living in the on-campus apartments is that everyone on the floor is very friendly and active. Last night, we played a game of nerf gun wars, and it was straight out fun. It has been while since I last had that much fun, or at least in student housing that is. Child's play, yes I know, but heck it was fun. During the nerf gun war, I had no gun at the time, so I just threw the darts at people. I think I threw like over 100 or more nerf darts. After that, I immediately purchased a small nerf pistol gun called a Maverick from Amazon.
Using my $10 gift card credits I redeemed (within 2 weeks or so)  from a site called swagbucks.com, I was able to get it pretty much for free since it was sold for only $10 w/ free shipping (Thank you Amazon Student Prime). It's very easy to get points actually. You can get points from searching using their search engine, filling out surveys, entering codes, and etc. And in a matter of weeks, you'll be raking in dozens of $5 amazon gift cards (I've already redeemed $20 in amazon gift cards). So if you want to join in, use this link: http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/Tofu720. Alright then, time for me to put on some more icy hot on my right shoulder and arm.

Finally Purchased Starcraft 2

Well, I guess I finally pulled the trigger and decided to purchase Starcraft 2. There goes my precious $47 and you know where I bought it? One of my best friends, Ebay. Yup. Won it in an auction and with 3% cashback, I got back $1.40. All in all, I guess it wasn't that bad of a deal. I was really aiming for $40, but I guess you can't win them all. So with that said, now I shall go brush up my skills against bots using my 7-hour guest pass my friend gave me. The hunt is officially over.

Starcraft 2 Wings Of Liberty (PC) Released

Hey again, Starcraft 2 initially released on July 27, but I still want to blog about this. Of course, if I really wanted this game, I would have pre-ordered months ago like everyone else did, but I decided to just be patient and wait for the price to drop. I mean... me spending $60 on a video game is just not likely to happen. So, I did what I do best and embarked on my quest for bargains and deals. Checking my main online hotspots, I looked through Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, and a few others. Kmart actually had a pretty sweet deal not too long ago where if you purchased Starcraft 2, they would give you a $20 game coupon. The only downside I saw to this was the fact that I don't even shop at Kmart and the last time I did was like 2-3 years ago. I was hoping there was a coupon code for Gamestop, but unfortunately there were none that could be applied. As for Amazon, coupon codes are very rare, so I was not expecting anything. I did, however, had a $10 gift card I redeemed through an online survey I took a while back. The problem here is that I "had" the gift card. I actually spent it a week before the release of Starcraft 2 on a pair of Asics running shoes. Now that I can honestly say was an awesome deal for myself. The pair of ASICS Men's Gel Kanbarra 5 Running Shoes sold for $42. Applying the $10 Amazon gift card made the cost go down to $32. Now here's comes in the money saver. The site was having a sale where all shoes were 40% off. That takes off another $17 making the final cost a total of only $15. Oh, and I forgot to mention they offered 2-day free shipping! Probably the best $15 I ever spent. Anyways, back to Starcraft 2. The best price I could find was $50 using cashback, but even at that price, I am still hesitate to click the add to cart button. Well, I guess I'll just have to wait it out. I'll probably just ask one of my friends for a 7-hour guest pass or something in the mean time.

A Must Watch Chinese Kung Fu Movie

If you didn't already know, I'm a huge fan of martial arts and kung fu movies. My top 5 martial arts/kung fu movie actors are Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Tony Jaa, and Sammo Hung (not in that particular order). From looking at my list, you may be asking yourself, "Where's Bruce Lee?" Well, not to say Bruce isn't a good actor, but I personally have more of a taste for movies with a modern day/contemporary feeling. I choose my favorite actors based not just solely on choreography, but also on character and personality. Anyways... moving on to the topic at hand.
So lately I've been watching quite a few Asian martial arts/kung fu flicks and decided maybe I should blog about my one of my favorites, since I currently have nothing else to blog about. After much contemplation and review, I chose "Ip Man (2008)" aka Yip Man as my top favorite movie. "Ip Man" directed by Wilson Yip, is a semi-biographical account of Yip Man, the famous Wing Chun grandmaster, depicting his life story. Since it is a semi-biography, that means about only 2/3 of the movie is actually based on a true story, while the other parts were added in for movie/entertainment purposes. So if your really interested in learning the true story of Yip Man, you should go look up on Google or some books.
I couldn't agree more with the film director's decision to cast Donnie Yen as Yip Man, whom I must say does an outstanding performance. I just can't see any other actor to fit so perfectly well in the role of Yip Man as Donnie Yen does. The storyline of the movie itself, takes place in China when ruled by the Imperial Japanese Army and the Sino-Japanese War is happening. In short, the plot is about the Japanese oppressing the Chinese, and then the Chinese decide it's time to stand up for themselves and fight back. The storyline isn't much new from what we've seen in other movies such as Jet Li's "Fist of Legend" but the character's personalities and emotions were all there. The fight scenes and choreography, however, blew me away. This movie is definitely worth watching and if your a fan of kung fu movies, then I suggest you watch "Ip Man."
The sequel to this movie "Ip Man 2 (2010)" actually already came out. I do not wish to talk full length on this movie right now, but I would just like to say, IMO, I felt it wasn't as great as the first movie. The realism and powerful story seen in the first movie seemed to have been lost. Overall, the movie had a good story, good amount of fight scenes, and very fun to watch. Ip Man 3 is still undecided, but if decided to be made, it is rumored that Jay Chou might play the role of Bruce Lee.

Update on the Starcraft 2 Best Buy Price Mistake

So this morning I checked my email only to find the dreaded cancellation email. The email titled "Best Buy Order Update" said the following message:

Dear DANIEL,
There was a pricing error on the Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty video game; as a result, your order will be cancelled and you will not be charged for this item. We are sorry for this error and apologize for any inconvenience.

Within a few hours later, I received my refund of $5.49. Well, it was worth a shot. Honestly, I was hoping Best Buy would give me a small gift card or credit for raising my hopes up and making me go through the whole checkout process.I guess I'll just have to wait until Starcraft 2 goes on sale or I have some coupon or promotional code because I don't want to have to pay $60.

The Future Of Shoes Is Finally Here

Earlier today I stumbled upon an interesting video on Youtube titled "Power Laces" and I must say I was very impressed. Inspired by the movie "Back To The Future 2" Blake Bevin created a pair of Nike shoes with actual working power laces. Just take a look at it yourself. Unfortunately, we are not at the stage yet where the mechanical parts hanging on the back of the shoes can disappear, so you'll probably have to bear with it. On the bright side, we no longer need to tie our own shoes. Now all we need is a hoverboard and were set to go.

Starcraft 2 Best Buy Price Mistake

So at around 3 A.M. today, I was browsing through some online deal forums and stumbled upon a topic titled "Starcraft 2 for only $5 Best Buy?" My eyes widened and jaw dropped the moment I saw this. At the same time I was also very suspicious and doubtful about it, but after clicking on the link, there it was. The page featuring Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty for sale at $5. "What the f...?!?!" was the first thing that came out of my mouth. It stated $59.99 as the regular price, then saying $54.99 was how much you saved, and finally the final price which was $5.00. Of course, I knew it was a price mistake from the beginning, and can assume they meant to put $54.99 as the final price and $5 being how much you saved. But, what the heck, why not give it a try. So I clicked the green button, which stated "ADD TO CART" and went through the payment process leading me to the the completed transaction page. Even though I knew I was in for an email cancellation, deep down inside I prayed they give me the game for that price. I slept like a baby right after that. Today I woke up at around 12:30 P.M. and decided to check my email. Surprisingly, I did not receive the anticipated cancellation email. I then went back onto the Best Buy website and found that the page for Starcraft 2 was completely gone. Strange... well I guess I will have to wait a while to see what happens next. Until then, I'm out to party and get drunk! Just kidding... Happy 4th of July!

My chihuahua has anemia

So recently my chihuahua named "lollipop" had been acting strange. By strange I mean she refused to eat or drink. She became less active and often looked very fatigued. I decided to contact my vet about my concerns and made an appointment. The vet had confirmed that my dog was anemic. "Canine anemia is a condition that occurs when there is a lack of red blood cells in your dog’s body. It occurs when red blood cells aren’t produced fast enough or when the body loses them too quickly." The average PCV (packed cell volume) for a dog is between 37-55. Lollipop's PCV was only 15. The vet said if her PCV continues to drop, lollipop may not be able to live much longer. Hearing this news brought me much sorrow and despair. Lollipop has been with my family for about 7 years now. She has always been so hyper and excited about everything. The vet said to give her these medications and come back in 3 days for another checkup. I'm just hoping for the best...

Next Gen or Old School?

Hey again, looks like I'm back on the blog. So recently I've been seeing ads for the Playstation 3 Slim for relatively cheap prices. Walmart currently has the Playstation 3 Slim 250gb bundled with your choice of two games for $350, which isn't that bad of a deal. I already own a Playstation 2 and am quite content with it. The only downside to buying a PS3 is that the new slim models are not backwards compatible, which leaves out all my PS2 games and I love all my PS2 games. I mean the platform games alongside, Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution, DJ Hero, Eyetoy, Guncon, and so much more makes the PS2 for me the best gaming experience ever. But, the PS3 has so many great game titles such as COD: Modern Warfare 2, FF:XIII, Gran Turismo 5, and the upcoming Marvel vs Capcom 3. I would be more inclined to purchase the PS3 if the price range falls between $250-300, since I'm a cheapskate like that. Yeah, I guess I can wait a while longer.

Day 1: My first-ever blog

Well, today marks the day I set foot in the blogging world. First Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and now Blogging...in that exact order. To me, this blogging thing feels just like recording logs and thoughts into an online diary (I'm a noob, yes, hence the title "My first-ever blog"). Sadly, I just googled the term "blog" and according to whatisblog.net, "A blog originally was a personal website meant to be like a diary or journal." Hmm...I never had a diary or journal before, but then again, how many of us did? The reason I probably decided to start blogging was most likely out of boredom and having absolutely nothing to do at 2:00 AM. I should be sleeping since I have to wake up at 8 AM for summer class today. This blogging thing is alright I guess... Not like anyone is going to bother reading my thoughts or commentaries anyways right? Haha. I probably won't blog much anyways, at most 2-3 blogs a month. Who knows, this might be my first and last blog. Alright, lights out for me. Now time to listen to my generic Ipod nano I recently purchased on Ebay for $15, which I must say is awful in many ways. Guess I get what I paid for... Until next time, if there is another next time.
